    Now, after fibreglassing the WTC

Now, after fibreglassing the WTC into the hull I've begun floatation tests in the test tank. Ballast tank tests will begin tomorrow afternoon when the resin has cured properly.

She's sitting a bit high in the water at the moment, but that will change during testing.

Stay tuned for the ballast and diving tests.............soon.

Looks like one of the rare twin 37mm to me, in fact.

          they seem a bit big

they seem a bit big to me too, but i'm not the expert
          on these things.

Do you have a good picture of the 2cm FlakZwilling perhaps ?

Not in electronic form, I'll try to take a photograph from one of my books tomorrow, when the light is better.
The 20 mm Zwilling does not have a shield, and the 37 mm has more pronounced muzzle boosters just like in that picture (the conical parts at the end of the barrel). The position on the conning tower (the lower and more astern platform) also points at the 37 mm - that was where the heavier flak was placed, such as the single 37 mm, or the 20 mm quad (Flakvierling).
The twin 20 mm were placed in pairs on the upper platform, from which this photo has probably been taken.

              20mm C/38

I was going to make this a new thread until I caught up with this one. First, for what its worth, there are good pictures of the U505 2cm flak guns (C/38, I think) at http://www.cybermodeler.com/naval/u-505 ... walk.shtml. I've also got some that I took, which aren't as good, if these aren't sufficient.

Does anyone know of a source for measured drawings of these weapons? I'm converting the old Nichimo 1:200 Type IXC model to represent U505 and need to scratch build the 2cm dual mounts as well 3.7cm.

All I've been able to find so far are general characteristics, but nothing detailed enough to use as a plan.

              Thanks, Barry

                those are also very nice

those are also very nice reference pictures !
(to use the link remove the trailing period from the URL)

second best to a measured plan is maybe the twin 2cm out of the
revell VIIc/41 kit. you could convert the main dimensions from that.
I was told they are pretty accurate (but in 1/72 still not too detailed).
then again, in 1:200 they are probably even less detailed.

If you're looking for a set of these plans, I would recommend buying a set from http://www.christian-schmidt-fachbuc...p?cPath=90_230

                      This is indeed a 3.7.

This is indeed a 3.7. This picture is a copy of the one on page 49 in 'Wolf Pack - The Story of the Uboat in World War II' by Gordon Williamson. Note the shadows and waves are the same in each photo.
