Well everyone, I jusy saw/touched the new Revell 1/72 Gato. WOW !! This kit will blow your mind! The kit is already designed for upgrades in the future releases. The pattern work is nothing short of amazing. I'll share more when allowed.

The kit bow and stern are seperate pieces. Probably so they could make different versions. The deck has the understructure present. They really thought this one through. I'm going to see if I can get a test shot.

Understructure? Does that mean hull top, induction/exhaust piping, vent piping, gun foundations, deck support framing, etc.?
And by "future upgrades", you don't mean Guppy sails and bows, do you?
Come on ! You gotta be able to tell us something ! The anticipation is killing me !!!

I agree - I'm cynical and practical. 3-pieces is for shipping & manufacture. Hopefully it's not too "Ikea" - some of their products seem designed entirely for manufacturing and transportation ease, it's just a happy accident the end result resembles furniture. (But some is cool too).
I, too, am glad to hear that the hull will be a three (6?) piece arrangement. I was worried about how I was going to explain, a box, almost six feet long. "She-who-must-be-obeyed", wouldn't have been a happy camper.

Seems like European customers will get first look at this beauty once again. I am looking forward to November, and though it is ideally placed for Christmas, I think I cannot wait that long
George,
I've seen some conflicting release dates for the kit in the US. I had seen November, but have heard recently that it may be earlier, in October. Any idea what the Revell plans are?
Thanks!
Tom
