    Custom cylinder SOLD!

I am selling a custom 3.1-R cylinder I made for my big Arkmodel 212 submarine.
I sold the boat two years ago before finishing the build but kept the custom cylinder.
The cylinder is used as it was tested twice in the boat.
    It ran great.
The standard 3.1-R was modified with a large ballast section that has a hybrid dual ballast design.
Low pressure and high pressure systems to control buoyancy.
The low pressure is vented to the sail and has an air pump and separate flood valve.
This takes you from decks a wash to surface trim.
The high pressure uses a RCABS-R system for underwater control.
The high pressure system has a MPD failsafe.
The main drive motor is a 6/1 geared brushless outrunner system.
The ESC has a high output BEC built in.
It gives lots of torque to swing big props and low current draw.
The cylinder runs on 6-8volts and only requires a receiver to be ready to run.
The cylinder had just been sitting so I took it all apart and replaced all the O ring seals, high pressure, and silicone tubing.
    Then reassembled and tested everything.
She is mechanically good as new.
It will require a 5 channel transmitter and receiver to control the cylinder with the hybrid ballast system.
The length is 31” and the diameter is 3 1/8”.
The ballast section is 10.5”x 3” inside giving roughly a 74 CUIN tank.
I am supplying a CD manual on how to install and operate the cylinder.
PM me if you have any questions.
    The price is $500.
    WTC Specifications.
    1-Voltage, 6-8.4 volts
    2-Motor, Brushless outrunner with 6/1 gearbox .
    3-Compressor pumps, 6-volt 11-PSI maximum pressure RCABS-R.
    Plus 6-volt 10-PSI for LPS
    4-Servos, Two High torque.
5-SES-3-ballast control with failsafe. (Maximum recovery depth 26 ft)(Tested depth 8 ft)
    6-Clippard-vent valve.
    7-Receiver- Five channels required. *
8-ESC-25 amp with 1 amp BEC.

    Dave,

I'm at work or I'd check, but you think this would fit in a Thor LA Flt 2? I just got one and need a cylinder of that diameter for her...

      Hi Bob,
      That is a good question.
I would say it may just fit but would be overkill.
I would check first. At the length of this cylinder you may need a lot of ballast to get her down.
Lots of air in a 31" cylinder. BD.

          Dave-
Would this work in my OTW Type XXIII? (About 56 inches LOA)
Also, what batteries would you suggest?

            Sam and Dave,

The OTW dive module that I have in my (OTW) Type XXIII needs about half the ballast tank filled to fully submerge. Assuming I did my math correctly, that approximately 71 cubic-inches of moveable ballast. (*)

So the question is: how much water can be pumped into that RCABS bladder?

            -Jeff

            (*) V = pi * r(squared) * height = pi * 2.125(squared) * 10.0

Dave's specs in his first post said 74 cubic inches...?
I am kind of concerned about the overall length. I'm not sure there's room for torpedoes with this type of cylinder...

                  .??
No water goes in the bladder.
The bladder is inside of the ballast tank.
It displaces a set amount of water.
The rest of the water is taken in through the bottom openings like a standard tank when the vent is open.
A air pump forces the water out when surfaced for a higher waterline.
Just like the real ones do.
                  So they tell me!
There is no provision in the cylinder for operating the torpedoes.

I know that, Dave. I meant size in the OTW hull for your tube AND a torpedo setup....

I was referring to what Jeff said.
Kind of busting on him a bit.

As for the size I guess you would have to measure and see if you think it would work.
It would easily fit inside and operate the model but I am not sure about the torpedoes.
The design of the cylinder leaves no room for extra servos. Sorry.
