    U 31 Robbe

Dear Submariners. I received from Robbe one of first submarines Type 212 U31 on the market. It is dinamic diving submarine, with option of static diving. It is absolutly excellent kit, easy to build, and beautifull size.Highly recomended. If anybody want to see it, before purchase, mail me, I will mail you pictures. I do not know, if it is on the market in USA, I get it in Europe.

    Hello,
I just bought one with tank for static diving and brushless motor.
Yes the kit is beautifull and easy to build but I have some doubt about the performances for static diving. The notice itself tells that the sub cannot dive without the motor when tank full.
The total weight is 19 kg and only 600cc tank. 0.6/19= 3.15%
Compared to other sub dyving successfully in static this is very few, they all have tank volume/weight > 10% ?
Did you test it for this ? video ?
    regards Jean Louis

Hi, I do not tested my sub, I have finnished WTC and everything inside, but I do not want to use plastic hull for this sub, so I am just finnishing mould for fiberglass hull for this submarine.Hull will be for sale on Internet soon. After this, test for static diving will be performed. I thing, 600 ml volume will be ok for this size of sub.My German Friends have U 31 in lenght of 169 cm,weight aroung 45 kg, volume of diving tank is 1,65 l.I have Engels USS Lafayette, lenght is 1,4 m and diving tank is 750 ml and it is also OK for this size. If sub will not dive, I will put there more of lead

        Hello

I just ordered a U-31 out of Austria and Im glad its well recomended.
I plan on using a compressor bassed ballast system with the ballast tanks inbetween the 2 hulls and should work well and have a long running time.
Also hydraulic masts as seen on my 5ft Alfa 705 will be employed with nave lights and working sail plains.
I dont know if I will use the aluminum chasis upgrade yet.
Cant wait to see her and share some pictures.

Out of curiosety what are you offering yours for?

It is good idea with compressor ballast system. Once you will receive your kit, let me know, if you are happy with plastic hull. WTC and inner part is excellent, but if plastic hull is good idea for 40 lb heavy sub...I do not know. Wall thickness is 1/16 in.I am just finnishing new hull, made of fiberglass, all job is done, need just scribing and finnished some details. of course, it will be for sale, but do not ask for price now. First hull will be done on end of January.

            Hello Peter

Shure I will post a full review of this kit as soon as I get it,and how I propose to modify it for a commpressor ballast system.

I think using more ribbing reinforcements and the use of liquid foam inbetween the hulls in moderation will not only increase the boyancy factor but greatly increse the strength of the injected area,be sure to use the marine vertion.
I would like to see your hull some day for sale.

Wait for your kit, you will see. In original kit are installed ribs, 5 pieces. On the bottom of the hull is glued 18 lb of lead.If you will use Stabilit Express for bonding, whole assembly looks for me to soft. Just because wall thickness is 1/16 in of ABS plastic. This was reason, why I am building new, fiberglass hull.If somebody want to see pictures of it, mail me to this adress: discus2a@hotmail.com I expecting have finnished moulds on end of January.

Hi, No, I do not selling Robbe's hull, I have for sale my own, fiberglass /epoxy hull for this submarine. I build hull from dravings, just scale is as Robbe, so you can use WTC from them. All details are moulded to surface, not scribed. In Robbe kit is ABS thin plastic hull, this is bonded vrom 6 sections, I do not thing, this is able to hold 40 lb heavy sub.If do you want some pictures, mail me to: discus2a@hotmail.com
