I am looking for a 1/72 scale hull kit of the Sturgeon Class.
My Father served on the USS Hammerhead SSN 663 and I am interested in building one. So if anyone has one please contact me.

Manta Submarines used to sell a 1/72 Sturgeon class in epoxy or polyester. They no longer manufacture them, so your best bet will continue to be looking for a used one on this forum.
1/96 scale Sturgeon's from Matt Thor pop up for sale as well...does it have to be 1/72nd?
I'll continue looking. Yes it does have to be 1/72nd. I am almost finished with a scratch built 1/72 DSRV Mystic that will also be RC and be mounted on the Hammerhead. It will be able to seperate to operate seperatly. When the DSRV is complete I'll post some pictures.
Mark, how about some photos buddy, sounds like a cool idea, and yes, Gregs plans are the way to go for a lot of boats!
I had a 1/96th Thor kit Sturgeon as my first boat, super sweet, with D&E 3" WTC SubTeck goodies, the boat ran so flawlessly she put you to sleep running it!
I do however, remember seeing a Manta Sturgeon, and you were left with a lot of detailng yourself, but very true to form, and a nice sise for 72nd scale.
My only addvice is to wait for a used copy to turn up, or contact D&E & Atomic Subs, and look up Matt Thor, by Email to see if they may steer you in any direction of a hull. Post over at SP too!!
The more I look into getting a Sturgeon kit the more it looks like I'll be building it from scratch. I'll attempt to post some pictures of the scratch built DSRV some time this afternoon.
Brian,
I already have the plans from Greg and it looks like I'll be going scratch. Here is a pic of my DSRV. I molded all of the parts. Steering is achieved with a small impeller in the nose. Propulsion normal and boyancy with a small piston chamber. All three are run with servo motors so no speed control required.
I don't know how to post a pic in this site. I did post one in Subpirates under sub sales with the same title.
Then on your homepage, right click the photo you wish to upload. Scroll down to Properties and click.
In the box that will open is the pohtos address, Highlight the address and copy.
Return to your post you are writing and click the Image Icon on the toolbar, when this box opens, just click in it, and Paste. Very simple and if I can tell how, You Can Do It !
I know about the Manta Hull because I have One, and no I will not sell her, I will contact Dan and see if he can get you one , or what is up with the molds, This is a scale I would like to see come back, and I bought the used copy to study, this is why I say you are left with a lot of detail to create!
If any body else reads this , and I told Mark anything wrong as to how to post photos, please comment, it works that way for me, and soon we will have a new system!
Brian,
Thanks for the reply. I am having problems creating my homepage. It keeps telling me my password is invalid. Once I create it I'll be posting quite a few pictures. I have been a static modeller up until about a year ago. If Dan is able to find another sub it would be much appreciated.
We're still having to use two "authentication systems"...one for the forum and the other for the member homepages. Plus the account creation of the homepages is a manual process.
If you would send your SC member number and desire username/password to our webmaster (webmaster@subcommittee.com), he'll set you right up.
