Have you taken a look at the OTW 1/32nd scale Type VIIC kit? It's a bit bigger than 5 feet....82 inches long...but it's got all the right detailing.

The other currently available possibility is to buy one of the Revell 1/72nd Type VIIC static model kits and add to it one of Dave Welch's dive module kits.
