XXIII in 1/32nd scale  NEW KIT COMING

Old 32nd parallel kits are getting hard to find so I decided to do my own. The first set of masters are finished. I built them out of automotive sculpting clay and will make some hard masters for weld lines and details. The model will have hull faceting and frame dishing in the parts The hard masters will be available for sale or I may find a glass guy to do the final molds and parts for me. Anyone interested, please contact me via E-mail. Pictures are available on link to rcgroups thread.

I've heard some whisperings about a new XXIII out "there". Your clay mold work looks really nice. This is such a cool boat (in my humble opinion). 1/32 scale is a nice size for this model...

Have you talked to Paul Crozier? He's got the Badgely/Thor Type XXI coming out...

Regardless, good luck! It will be nice to have another choice of models in the market.

        I'm not sure if Paul's

I'm not sure if Paul's doing his own work or not. His XXI is going to be epoxy, not polyester.

          Looks like the boat will

Looks like the boat will be sold in vacform styrene. I have done a few paint tests and the results are promising. Pictures are posted. Masters are still for sale.

Since I am unable to post pics, please refer to the rcgroups link.

            Pricing for the model?
            Are you including appendages?
Are you including scopes, masts, schnorkel, etc?

            Looks really nice so far!

              Thanks, Sam. I have not

Thanks, Sam. I have not set the final pricing. It will be somewhere between 200-250 US. The boat will include all appendages and may also have a few cast detail parts.

I am also trying to incorporate a cast part that holds the rudder control arm in place. That way, you bond it to the side of the hull with the pushrod and glue the hull halves together. I am still working on this but it should be able to hide everything.

That would be a nice touch. One of the "scale" problems that the 32nd P boat had was an outside link for the rudder. It would be nice to have that hidden.
