    Looking to buy an Alexander Engel 1/70 scale 212a

    Anyone have an Alexander Engel 1/70 scale 212a kit or a completed model they wish to sell? If so, respond here or send me a private message.

      Why not just buy a new one from Engel?

          The new ones are printet from engel and then there seal them in an special procedure. The older resin version was the best kit.

              Engel's website store has been MIA for months. I am tired of waiting for him. If someone has anEngel 212 on the shelf, it would be worth a discussion.

                  You peaked my curiosity. What do you mean by the older resin kits were better? What are the kits made of now?

                      Engel Modellbau is currently experiencing major issues with its internet service provider. It is unclear when the website will be back online. Naturally, this represents a massive loss of revenue for him. The first generation of the Type 212 was made from thick-walled resin. The second generation was produced from ABS, blow-molded in a special mold. Now, Engel prints the current version himself using an industrial ABS printer and seals the hull using a special process.

                          Hi Gantu,
                          thanks for the Engle hull info. May I test your memory a bit more?

                          Photos I've seen from 212 builds looks like those kits must have been second generation blow-molded ABS. From those photos, the hull looked to be one piece forward of the bayonet seal and one piece aft. Do you know if the new printed hull is in multiple sections that must be glued together? I ask because I am uncomfortable trusting the seams not to leak and ruin the electronics. Also the seams present a weak point that may further endanger the hulls integrity.

                          I may just be a bit of a 'worry wart'. I have send an inquiry off to Engel asking on availability.
