I am helping to sell this for Mike Dory. I will not be touching the money and no percentage or amount goes to me. All money goes to Mike Dory. It is being offered for $1,800 or best offer. Shipping is not being offered due to size and weight - not even sure he would want to - so you would have to make arrangements from your end. Local pickup (Southern California).
For anyone who does not know, Mike Dory is one of the frontiersman of the U.S. r/c submarine hobby. He was instrumental in helping what we enjoy today known as SubCommittee.
Up for sale is Mike Dory’s ARTR Robbe 56" 212 U-31. This boat does not have the Robbe innards it is the 212 shell, but with new insides. It has a custom 5” tube made built by Will Oudmayer for Mike Dory. It is a piston system and will run about 3+ hours on a charge. Will is called the Architect, by some, because of the craftsmanship of his WTC. It is a precision work of art and will allow you to maintain periscope depth the whole time you are sailing if you want. The sub will not come with a radio or receiver, but if you send Will Oudmayer the radio (once paid for, I can arrange for you to be in contact), he will install it and setup for your system (at no additional charge), so in effect, you will have an RTR submarine if you so desire.
What is in the piston WTC? In Will Oudmayer’s words, he put “all the bells and whistles” in there. He says “It has a German elephant motor with a 2 to 1 gear box, depth control, pitch control, piston tank and controller, new batteries, X tail and costume paint job, ready to run after putting your own radio in it.” Building cost on this was $1,800 price, so it is a bargain. Anyone that has been to the LA Fun Runs and has seen it in the water, will attest to its running abilities.
