The last paragraph is rather disturbing, hope that we knew about it all along, but were keeping it mum to let these guys THINK they have the upper hand. Alas, we'll never know for sure. Reminds me of the time when a foreign submarine popped up out of the drink near one of our aircraft carriers(I think it was the Kitty Hawk, but I'm not sure). That was rather embarassing.

From what I've been told and read, the USN's ASW has been neglected by those who write the checks. Yes, a foreign sub did pop up in the middle of a carrier group undetected and both China and Russia have claimed to have sent subs into the US's exclusion zones. Maybe the P-3 that flies from Washington to central Oregon for certification hours should maybe use that time for patrols instead. Then again, with the exception of the National Guard, Oregon is basically defenseless.
