Any sub committee members in Tasmania?

If the Aussies can pop a submarine up in a city harbor, why can't/won't we, like a LA or VA class submarine docking in New York City??
    Is the water deep enough?
Would the security headaches be beyond doing.
The USS Nautilus was one time in NYC harbor, is that the last submarine to be in that harbor on the surface????
2 many questions I know, but this article got me to thinking.

    .....there's me.
Dunno about any others.....there's only the south pole after here.
The Collins class have been to Hobart before....public were allowed to walk on deck in small groups.

Years ago there was the occasional russian sub too. Inevitably moored outboard of a surface ship. But getting close from the seaward side.....it was rough, welded patches everywhere.

Great subkraft, Have you ever made any of the static HMAS COLLINS in 1/350 scale?
If I remember right, I think OKB Grigorov and SHOWCASE models both put out a 1/350 scale COLLINS submarine.
I'm hoping to make the SHOWCASE one soon.

        No...haven't built any static subs.
Prefer the working ones.......and if there's anyone else out there on the island
        doing...it'd be great to talk.

        Regards
