Model and photos of Chinese Shang-class sub go on display

    Jane's Abstract
Model and photographs of Chinese Shang-class submarine go on display
    By Jon Rosamond

    10 September 2007

A scale model and photographs of China's new Shang-class (Type 093) submarine have been seen in public for the first time at an exhibition in Beijing.
The outward appearance of the 6,000-ton nuclear-powered boats - two have been launched so far, in 2002 and 2003 - has until now been a closely guarded secret within the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN).

But in late July the model and hazy images went on display in an exhibition marking the armed forces' 80th anniversary, at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution.

Then in August the Beijing-based Modern Ships magazine published the first clear photograph of one of the submarines.

      Anyway try Google.com
      Shang-class
      Images
But you will have to sort thru results for real hits.

Also you can get the above Chinese base image URL looking thru hits in case the one just above does not work.

        That one official Chinese military

That one official Chinese military photo in their exhibition is so Photoshp'd it's not even funny.

What's the deal with the first image too? Is it just a strange lens, or is the sail listing to one side, and the rudder to the other?
