HMS Astute rolls out of the building shed

HMS Astute has been rolled out today and named by the Dutchess of Cornwall ( Prince Charles' wife ) today at Barrow in Furness at the BAE Systems yard.

We have publicly rolled out every new Sub for a while now Mylo even the Vanguard class SSBN's were filmed coming out of the shed. Doesn't matter what it looks like out of the water as the propulsor was covered and the main noise reduction tech is inside the sub. Once its in the water my guess is that it would take the SSN21 class to find it ... unless the Astute finds them first lol

There was the Discovery Channel Doccy on the Virginia Class and the 212, that showed penty of detail. I guess navies only show whats already in the public domain or whats of of no military value.

Are there any drawings available for a scratch build ?

Nothing that I know of

Nothing that I know of Mylo. I've been trying to get as much info on her as possible to see if I can draw up a set of plans but thats my winter project.

A UK sub manufacturer did sell a model of her ( with a box WTC ) but has stopped selling it. The shape of the hull is completely different to the CGI images that were released ( they didn't give any hint that she would have the raised deck aft or the scoop fillet around the base of the sail ).
