U.S.S. COD Submarine Memorial Opens Season Tomorrow
Submitted by Leader Staff on Mon, 2007-04-30 14:59.
Cleveland's Northcoast Harbor is ready for spring. The U.S.S. COD Submarine, a World War II vessel built in 1943, opens to the public for a new season tomorrow. The submarine has been docked in Cleveland since 1959, first used as a training ship for new cadets and now serves as a museum. The sub, which sank 36,000 pounds of enemy fleet during its tour in wartime, was name National Historic Landmark in 1986.
