Drug runners use remote control submarine

National Police, working with the Guardia Civil and customs authorities, have arrested eight people in connection with the drug running off the Galician coast.
The group used a home-made submarine to bring the drug ashore from yachts and other vessels at sea. The 11 metres long craft contained communication equipment and is believed to have been sent to the coast by remote control.
The arrests of both Spaniards and Latin Americans were made in Galicia, Madrid, Cataluña and AndalucÃa, and nine houses were also searched as part of the operation
