    USS San Francisco departs Guam for Bremerton.

    050817-N-7293M-107 Santa Rita, Guam (Aug. 17, 2005) - The Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS San Francisco (SSN 711) departs its former homeport of Apra Harbor, Guam, to make the journey across the Pacific Ocean to her new homeport of Bremerton, Wash.     Is it me or does

    Is it me or does it look like the sub has a trim problem in that photo? The bow seems pretty high.

      As a fromer 688 Sailor The fwd trim looks about right. But because of the extensive rework that had to be done to the fwd balasttanks and sonar dome it is hard to say.

        USS San Francisco trip to

        USS San Francisco trip to Bremerton will be strictly on the surface to ferry her to her new homeport for extensive reconstruction. There the boat will recieve the former USS Atlanta's forward section. She is in transit to Bremerton now as this thread is written.

            Icky,,, LOL,, most of the guys won't even know the subs on the surface,, unless the OOD lets them come topside for a looksee.... JJ

              Yes, this is probably a

              Yes, this is probably a chance for the whole crew to be rotated as lookouts at some point all along the way. Most seldom have this privilege.

              And no, she will definitely roll some, the hull of revolution, if ideal for submerged operations, will roll like a tree log on the surface. The 'Icky' will be cleaned up at the end of the trip.
