    Hi Tim,

Any chance we can get you to do this up as an article for the SCR? Possibly for the September issue?

          And the Alligator "junior" progresses

And the Alligator "junior" progresses as well. Luckily, this model will only be used for distance shots and evening views for the Discovery Science Channel show. To follow my progress, go to www.rc-submarines.com/Alligator_Junior/

                  And a little more progress

And a little more progress on Alligator Junior (my name for Brutus DeVilleroi's pre-Alligator 1859 Salvage Submarine).

                  Brass conning tower/dome made from a 2 1/4" copper float from McMaster-Carr.

Guts come in from the stern.

Simulating rivets with dry transfer dots.

The dots will be covered over with primer. That will just leave the raised circles to simulate the sanded-flat rivet heads of the mid-1800's as used on the Hunley. Then the whole boat will be painted in a color similar to what you see most Disney Nautilus models - kind of a burnt ocre/umber towards the rusty spectrum - I HOPE!

By the way - The photos that Antoine just posted of Merriman's stuff will be posted in a few days by Chuck Veit on the www.navyandmarine.org "Hatching and Alligator" site with descriptions of what and how its all done.

                    Tim,

Hope you took lots of pictures during your building of Junior. Would really like to see a full review work up in the SCR so all
could see the great work your doing. Really am impressed by your job on the conning tower.

                    Great work,
