    So the question is what was vandalized and how did that happen. When I was in Portsmouth we still had security watches both below decks and also on the edge of the drydock as well.

      Back at Holy Loch in '82, most every installation I was stationed at, going back long before we were even a gleam in our fathers eye. So the answer simply is, human error, aka someone not doing their job.

          Could even be the watches themselves (think bored teenagers!) I was known to get feisty with an unattended tube of prussian blue on occasion

                The Simon Lake and the Drydock left in 1992 and I was under the impression that the site itself closed in 1993. Every visit I had to Scotland from 92 to 2013 was at HMSB Faslane in the Gare Loch across from Holy Loch. There is/was a site up in Loch Long, but I was under the impression it was royal Navy only and I have never visited it.
