    SSN-22 update:

Previous reports said minor damage. This report says "severe". I'm not so sure about the "seamount" story anyhow. I thought (speculation/presumption) that the entire earth was charted under water. Maybe not?? Why send a $-billion-$ + submarine , and all those human lives into uncharted waters????????????? Anyhow. The article follows. https://www.thedefensepost.com/2021/...-sub-seamount/

Considering the percentage of the Earth covered by the seas and that the underwater topography changes, particularly in the area of the Ring of Fire, I find it hard to believe that the charting is 100% accurate. During WW 2 many of the SouthWest Pacific Theater charts were based upon charts from the late 18th century. Hopefully they are somewhat updated by now, but I would expect gaps.

Well, whatever happened, the CO, XO, and COB have been relieved. It may have been a watchstanding / training issue, meaning the accident was likely preventable.
