    I did a lot of diving on the CSS Georgia a Confederate ironclad in the Savannah River. I was always impressed with the solid construction of this vessel. Three huge timbers would all come together to form a joint. You could barely get your arms around each member. The sides were thick too. As far as I know no one died on the vessel it was scuttled. But there was no doubt this was a warship. I'd always think about the men on board and how hot it must've been. Brought up the first cannon ball and shell.
