What amazes me ,and sadly appalls me, is that until last year there was no memorial for Thresher and her crew and that it took 7 years to get approval, through 6 levels of government. It makes one wonder if new systems introduced are not already obsolete when they are finally produced...say, like a Zumwalt.

Jonathan, I couldn't agree more. The single biggest submarine disaster in our naval history, worst loss of life, and it's 56 years later they get around to memorializing those men?

Appalling is the nicest word I could use.
