The next batch of Israeli Submarines will not be DOLPHIN class, but an all new class. A group of three are being considered within a decade.

As in many past cases, there is no connection between the intensity of the public attention devoted to a certain episode and the actual importance of that episode. So, the episode that has been covered most extensively this week is associated with the fact that an unmanned helicopter belonging to the Volcani Agricultural Research Center was given away as a gift to the Russian Prime Minister. The incident was blown by the media to the proportions of a serious defense-related incident.

SQUABBLE, SQUABBLE, SQUABBLE: like a bunch of little kids. Oh Well.

The new submarine transaction with Germany was reported here for the first time on October 14, and has evolved into an obsessive witch hunt pursuant to the revelations by journalist Raviv Drucker regarding the involvement of the Prime Minister's personal attorney, David Shimron. As in previous affairs, the submarine transaction has also evolved into a red-hot political and media issue that combines rumors, suspicions and speculations with facts.
