Interesting. My bet is tomahawk and I think that would be the right choice. Should never have retired harpoon but still...

I would hope that the Navy would have eventually field something advanced than the Tomahawk. It is subsonic and the design and technology are coming up on 40 years old. Granted the electronics have been updated. It is also limited to a 21 inch diameter tube; maybe time to rethink the larger tubes that were originally designed into the Seawolf (SSN 21) class. Greater diameter can yield more fuel storage and open up the possibilities for greater design innovation. There is the Lockheed LRASM program, which originally had a B model that was supersonic and high altitude (cancelled). Program details at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_R...i-Ship_Missile. Lockheed is looking at a submarine launched variant of LRASM-A. Short term Tomahawk would fill the gap, but longer term something with a new design giving greater capabilities should be considered.
