Navy’s 10th Virginia-class submarine to be commissioned

The submarine was built in Newport News, Va., under a teaming agreement between Electric Boat in Groton and Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, in Virginia. Construction began in February 2008 and the team delivered Minnesota (SSN 783) in June, 11 months ahead of schedule.
Rear Adm. Kenneth M. Perry, commander of Submarine Group Two, said, "Administratively and operationally, the Minnesota is ready to join the fleet."
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and can be viewed live online at navylive.dodlive.mil.
