All submarines are highly technical subjects requiring knowledge of engineering, electronics and weaponry and no one researcher can become highly proficient in all disciplines. With the benefit of his own engineering background, Don has communicated over several years with some of the world’s leading experts in U-boat research and brought their specialist expertise to bear within this one unified project. The name of Don’s book is derived from the title of the original German Skizzenbuch document, which was intended for the engine room personnel serving on U-boats. The running order of this book is dictated by the order of the original plans, with material from his contributors brought in at each stage to make sense of the technical drawings. The resultant book is very much more than the “sketch book” that the literal translation suggests. In my opinion, this comprehensive Skizzenbuch project has successfully bridged the research gap and has the potential to become the definitive source of how a Type VIIC functioned.

Gentlemen, I have made Skizzenbuch free for your download for well over 3 years and the downloads exceeded 10,000, not counting the pirated Websites which charged from $7 - $12 for a Torrent D/L which would take about 5 minutes depending on your internet modem speed and connection (This was a rip-off because they slowed the network D/L to about 8 hours). I have paid $150 per year to maintain the Kristallklar Publishing LLC, and the additional cost for the US Copyright. I have created an Amazon Kindle PDF Format Ebook "Skizzenbuch: U-Boat Type VII C Project" and the download cost is $2.99 which is a very fair price for a 516 page book with well over 1,000 photos and drawings. Amazon would not allow me to make it free, and the minimum price was $2.99; Besides, I spent about 2 months creating the Kindle PDF Format Ebook...
If you go to the Amazon.com Website, at the search box (All) click on the down arrow and select "Kindle Store"... Then type "Skizzenbuch:" in the search box and hit enter, now yow will have the book listing where you can review the first 51 pages... So far 2 books were sold and I purchased one of them and my friend in Germany purchased the other one (1 US $2.07 and 1 Germany $2.63) which is my financial reimbursement of $4.70 towards the book. The project is now in its 9th year...
