    Thunder Below by Gene Fluckey

I just picked up this book from a second-hand store and it is marvellous.

It reads like just any fiction but of course it describes *real* patrols of the USS Barb.
It is very well written, I could not put it down after starting.
If you see this book, buy & read it !

(then play Silent Hunter 4 again and raid NamKwan harbour )

An outstanding book! One of the most impressive things about Fluckey was that he was most proud of the fact that none of his crew were injured during Barb's exploits. He used the money from the profits on his book to take the surviving members of his crew & their spouses on touring trips.

I would also recommend another book, more about Eugene Fluckey himself, and that is [b]The Galloping Ghost] by Carl LaVo.

Fantastic book. Reads like fiction, but the Barb's logs back up his stories. Galloping Ghost queued up for purchase behind more immediate modeling needs. Fluckey's book is the main reason my Gato will most likely be built as the Barb (although Greenling, Harder and Wahoo are still in the running).
