A scratch build Type IIb cut-away

Before I started my RC project, I basically rediscovered my love for submarine models by building static models. This is my masterpiece. I took a 1:72 scale Type IIb model and from scratch converted it to a highly detailed cut-away model. The interior is completely designed in 3D using CAD. The design is based on a basic overview drawing of the boat and photos from the interior of the original that I found online. All parts are made by 3D printing and are detailed with photo etched parts.

I started from the First posting to this. This one blew me away! Wonderful work.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

              Amazing detail work!
I would love to hear more details about the 3D printing process, as the parts looks extremely detailed. I am guessing this was a high end printer?
              Thanks for posting your work!

Everything was printed by the Dutch Company Shapways https://www.shapeways.com/

The have a huge spectrum of printers and materials including highly detailed acrylic (used for the boat) but also stainless steel, gold, ceramics......

I use them for lots of the fine details for my RC subs as well and of course for making silicon molds for resin parts.
