Looking for pics and plans of Thresher/Permit class boats

    All,

I'm working on the Blue Water Navy (now Yankee Modelworks) 1/350 Thresher kit. While there isn't that much to it, there aren't any marks to position the fins or periscopes/antennae either.

Anyone know of good photos of the aft fin and prop area and teh sail top? Some scale drawings would b enice too, if such things exist.

    Thanks for guidence.

You're welcome! In looking at that kit, I am rather sure that the sail is too big to depict early Thresher/Permit class subs. Also, Thresher never got the towed array before she was lost, so you need to lose the fairing that runs along the hull if you do Thresher.

          Tom,
Those are great pictures.Something that I noticed to get and idea how vintage the pictures are,the yard crew on deck in the one picture of the boat in dry dock don`t have hard hats on,matter of fact it looks like the one gentleman has a cowboy hat on.

I developed a CAD presentation in four views of USS THRESHER. The standard three views are outboard profile, topside and bottom showing Main Sea water, Auxiliary Sea water and other RC hull openings along with the position and deatil of the MBT flood gratings. The fourth view is the inboard profile showing the corelation of the outboard features as they relate to the inboard components and machinery. For instance MBT No. 7 was aft of the engine room but forward of the mud tank and the MBT 7 flood grating is offset to starboard. Many other features are represented. Let me know if you are interested. I also have about two dozen photos of both the ship and two model representations; one in 1/32nd and the other in 1/48th.
