    U-boat weathering question - hull spots ...

I'm about to start a Revell 1/144 Type VIIC, full hull. I want to show appropriate weathering, but the thought occurs to me that rust evident on the hull below the waterline would not be streaked in the same way that rust and grime above the line might be.

In other words, while above the line one would expect the streaking to be down, would there really be any streaking below the line? I mean, it's not dripping underwater; would rust spots be more accurately depicted as just that - spots of different sizes/shapes?

I'm probably not doing a great job of explaining my question. Anyone have any thoughts?

    TIA!

    there is not much photo

there is not much photo evidence to prove you wrong either way,
because of it being under the surface

I guess that when in dock, rain would help the rust to run out downwards,
but are you planning on a dock diorama ?

use the first Modellers Law : "whatever looks right"
