    NR-1 in 1/72 scale - NR1 Static Model in 1/72 scale

    Hi guys..

I had put some shots up before but wanted to show the final rendering of hull number 1 for our client. It is displayed on a simulated ocean floor base with lights from NR1 simulated with paint on the base.

The model is quite accurate, down to rivet patterns and panels etc..

If anyone has any comments please feel free. We REALLY enjoyed mastering this project up for production.

    Overall Starboard view

Closeup of stern area, showing zincs, rear thruster gratings, rudder antenna mount, props, etc .. Also visible is the tiny little brass etched stern light protective cage right on the stern tip.

Closeup of bow as finished. Many lighting and other details are visible in this shot. Note the cow-catcher looking device, etched from the brass just below the starboard midline of the boat forward.

      HI Antoine,

We already have a hull about 4 feet long for NR-1 and are considering taking it further and getting it ready. Heaven knows we KNOW that boat now!

I am pretty excited about it as it is a definite UNIQUE hull form...

      Thanks for checking it out...

            Thanks Carter!

Antoine! I received it but cannot reply yet. My power supply on that computer failed and I had to order another one from Dell. Dell's power supplies are PROPRIETARY to DELL and you cant just go into Comp USA and buy one. I tried last night.

UGH.. I should have the new Power Supply tomorrow though . I will be sure to get back to you...

How did you make the grates on the seawater intakes? Also, what kind of paint color and brand did you use? Nice looking boat.

                Hi Casey,

Are you referring to those circular-shaped grates?

Those, along with other parts, are photo-etched brass. The circular grates are actually made from two separate parts that have been glued together to more accurately represent the original grates.

                    HI Casey,

Jeff speaks truly. On the real boat, the grates are actually rebar, welded over a slightly elliptical (when projected onto the hull) ring. We reproduced this the same way via etched brass. As such, the extra relief does MUCH to enhance realism. Jeff LaRue is actually who did the etched brass for us to answer your question. too by the way.

                    Thanks Casey,

                    Marc

What brand and color paint did you use? I like it and would use it on my Permit.
