    Question about Fulton's Nautilus

I just got the Cottage Industries resin kit of this nifty sub. Before I paint it up though I really would like to know what the construction of it was. Was it copper clad wood? Steel? I just looked around the web but didn't find any details on the construction. I thought I once read somewhere that it was copper plating, but I'd appreciate any comments people here have about what it was made from, for paint color purposes.

    Thanks,

    Robert

    I just did a search

I just did a search on google images, and all the ones that I saw showed a copper/bronze finish to them.

        Thanks. What I'm really looking

Thanks. What I'm really looking for is some printed reference. Copper alone would be too flexible I think which made me think copper clad wood. But if I'm completely wrong it could also have been iron, or ironclad wood.

        ...

Aha, I found a single reference in the book Exploring the Deep Frontier. It says it was copper hulled. So I'll probably shoot the kit with Tamiya metallic copper then wash/overspray with Tamiya bronze (which looks more like gunmetal if you ask me) to weather it.

It's a nice little kit, and reasonably priced.
