Hi Tom - Paint scheme info

    Tom,
It's been a long time since I've talked with you, I hope that all is well.
I cast one of my Lafayette class boomers the other day, and decided that I should build one for myself.
Now, I've been away from subs for awhile, and I've forgotten some of the things that I knew about paint schemes. Tom, or others, do you know anything about the paint schemes used on the Lafayette class?

    Hi Ralph! Great to hear

Hi Ralph! Great to hear from you; I just sent a sub sailor your way who was looking for an LA model. Hope you still have your outstanding resin kits in production.

The boomers were usually painted red from halfway down the hull, and black from halfway up. There was also a variation in paint schemes, not very widespread, that had gray on the vertical surfaces above the waterline. Here's some photos of the red below, black above scheme]Henry Clay in Drydock-1[/url]

      Tom,
      Excellent!! That's exactly what I

      Tom,
Excellent!! That's exactly what I needed to know, thanks.
I was leaning towards doing the gray sided scheme.
I wasn't sure if the red came up to the hull centerline, or the waterline. I guess either way would work.
One minor problem, I cant open up several of the links, I could open the three of Henry Clay, but not the others, (access denied on this server). Would you be able to e-mail them to me as jpg.'s? My e-mail is still the same.

      Thanks again,
      Ralph
