georget - thanks for the

georget - thanks for the support, and I agree.

mkeatingss - great site, am adding the site to the new forum.

This format worked so well for my best mate with his 2001 space pod. He built a forum and about 15 hardcore pod-builders spent a year on research, all pooling their knowledge and even getting in touch with two 2001 authors and a production fellow from the film. It paid off and there are some very, very authentic pods out there now, with a lot of modelling techniques leraned by all.

We've got aboat a year before the kit comes out, time for great research, decisions, and saving up for the kit! AND, some brilliant types out there could start planning after-market accessories...

rokket,

I made the first post

rokket,

I made the first post on the FSM website on Oct. 4 - based on this thread, and provided the link back to here. This site has the most info on any and all sub related items.

Greetings to all!!
This is my first post re. Subcommittee,& I am a
new guy to sub modelling, although my interest in
the Fleet Boats goes back to the T.V. show "Silent Service"
in the mid fifties.I've been an active armor modeller for
many years,& was much enthused by the RoG type VII,
but never built one.The idea of a proper Gato in 1]

Chips - certainly the SubCommittee

Chips - certainly the SubCommittee is superb, and a wonderful info source, I'm grateful. I'm just trying to focus on the one model with specific sub (pardon the pun) catageories. As I mentioned, this worked very well for a mate. The online-conversation was broken down into Ext and Int and Research and various other categories, only about the one model.

roowalker - there are so many great books, many listed here at SubComm]http://www.subcommittee.com/SubComm/books.cfm

I've compiled a small list of my own at]http://p104.ezboard.com/brevellgatosub (look under "BOOKS")

While I agree with Chips,

While I agree with Chips, the SubCommittee is the ultimate sub site, Rokket's Gato site is a great addition. One stop shopping for the Gato nuts, as it were.
Here we're heavy on nuke boats and modern subs.. There, the emphasis is on Gatos.
My only regret is that no one thought to do it with Revell's Type VII.
Highly specialized sites are very helpful, when your interest is narrowly focused on a particular item.
For me, I say "Hats off to Rokket." There are never too many sources of info.

Hey, that box art looks

Hey, that box art looks familiar!! Several years back, Revell packaged the Lionfish with their USS Missouri kit (different scales, but, hey!). The box art, as I recall it from the stores, looked almost exactly like that posted on the website, a starboard view off the stern quarter. Except in this case, the battleship in the background has been hazed over.

They could charge $150 and

They could charge $150 and I'd still buy it. They could charge even more and I'd just have to work at getting the $$$. Fortunately my wife understands my need for this model...
