Nautilus Models wooden deck? - for Revell 1/72 Type VIIc

    Hi,

just got myself one of those Revell 1/72 Type VIIc kits, very nice indeed

Does anybody have experience with the wooden deck from Nautilus Models, is it recommended?

I've also seen that there's an aftermarket brass deck availiable for this kit, any comments on this?

Thank's for any comments or advice.

      Hi,

thank's for the reply, I've been thinking and studying the default deck that comes with the kit and since I'm going static I think this will do just fine.

It seems very detailed, does anyone have any comments to this, is it accurate to scale?

If I would have gone R/C then it would have been a mess opening up all those slots in the deck and then the brass upgrade would have been neat.

        Hi Bjorn,

The deck included with the Revell kit is pretty accurate. There are only a few things wrong that very few folks would be able to spot...let alone care about.

The slots on the plastic deck are more accurate in terms of size than either the wood or brass deck.

The biggest 'goof' is actually with the conning tower deck where the UZO is located off center.

          I think the reason most

I think the reason most people are substituting the wood or brass deck is so that they don't have to cut out all the limber holes from the plastic deck, not because the plastic deck is innacurrate

              Thank's guys,

I think I also saw a post a while back about the UZO-stand being the wrong height. I will check this as well.

it is. the top of the UZO needs to be at least level with the top edge of the tower, so the binoculars and pin sight can see over the tower.
