Tribute to a friend retiring from the Navy - My way of saying thanks to a Veteran
Tribute to a friend retiring from the Navy - My way of saying thanks to a Veteran
The title and description says it all. He served on the USS Connecticutt SSN 22. The model will be presented to him this coming Saturday at a cook out in his honor.
More images are on my home page.
Hope you enjoy this.

Thanks for the kind words.
petn7,
The Connecticut is now all black, the paint scheme I did was as launched pre sea trial as evident by the DSRV lines on the hatches. These lines are painted over upon delivery of the boat to the Navy.
Tom,
Yes this is the Trumpeter kit. I fixed as much of the inaccuracies as time would allow. Unfortunately the bow and stern are as released.
Sam,
I'm not sure what board your talking about so there may be another BSF out there.
If Carl does'nt mind I could do an article for the SCR about the process of putting this together.

Very Nice!! I thought it was a resin kit not the Trumpeter Seawolf!
Seems like that kit it's not that bad when an expert modeller takes the time to fix it (even if you didn't fix the bow!!)
I've been trying to reply for a couple of days, sorry things got a little nuts here.
Gerwalk,
Thank you for the use of the word expert but I still feel I have a long way to go before I earn that title. I am however very pleased with the out come as it shows me I'm getting there. Alot of the credit goes to the people that post here on the forum and contribute articles to the SCR. With that said,
After reading a post in "general" by Tom Dougherty (a true expert) about needing articles, I will write one detailing what went into building this model giving credit to all that contributed and talk a little about the man who is getting it.
Hopefully I will get pictures of him when he sees it for the first time.
What do you the membership think of that idea?
As one of the production editors for the SCR I think I can answer for Carl and encourage you to do an article about this build. She looks great and the case is kick a$$ too!
Thanks for the kind words.

Don,
I would love to see an article about your build! Please go ahead with the article and email me when you're ready. If you can get it done by Oct 10th, I'll put it in the December issue!
