revell Type VII  photos - I've added a few photos...

Check out my homepage on the member's area. I put up a few photos of the Type VII which is just about ready for paint.
Note the brass deck, the brass turned barrels and scopes, and the brass vents. Unfortunately, I buttoned up the deck before shooting the inner pressure hull...but it's in there!

Some additional mods done- slots and drain slots opened, individual supports inside the long slot above the saddle tanks, copper railing to replace the one that sprang off into the void when I was cutting it from the sprue, additional detail on the scope pedestal, additional hand railings for the wintergarten, bored out tampion holder on the front of the 88, extended UZO, handwheel on the CT hatch, etc.

Still to go- non skids for the 88, jumpers for the wiring at the rear of the wintergarten, antenna rigging.

Feel free to comment or critique!!!
    cheers,
    Sam

Sam, I'm sure you know, but...

The conning tower hatch should touch the periscope housing when
opened, because there are photo's of the hatch latched on to the
periscope housing by some kind of hook.

              Regards,
              Ronald

                Hi Ronald-
yep..I'm familiar with that. My OTW conning tower includes the mechanism in white metal that is attached to the preiscope base. I have been trying to add it to the 1/72 tower, but been unsuccessful sor far- it's just a sliver of styrene plastic in that scale.

                  Sam,

                  >>> I remembered on this one Jeff! a couple of degrees. wasn't it?

The axis of the hatch hinge should be 90 degrees from a line drawn between the centers of the hatch and the periscope shear.....for the reason that Ronald noted.

(and yes, I knew you rememebred! )

I've updated my profile with some new photos...

paint is on, but weathering has not started. I used grun for the deck and lower hull, lichtgrau for the upper sides, and the camo is RLM dark grey. Rigging will be going on as soon as I fix the Conning Tower to the deck.

                    Comments, questions welcome...
                    thanks,

                        thanks captain nemo12-
I masked the upper from the lower, using Tamiya's masking tape, but the zebra camouflage was done freehand.

                          Hey guys,

I noticed some elaborate shielding on the twin 20 mm Flakguns.
These shields never lasted long and were ripped off by the current or the waves. So if you depict a weathered boat after a long patrol loose the shielding. Weather could be so bad that even complete gunemplacements were ripped off ( this happened occasionaly with the quadruple 20 mm)

                          regards
                          U-Kater
