        Dear Jiri,

        What do you mean

        Dear Jiri,

What do you mean by "wooden deck"?. All type VII U-boats had wooden decks. In early war the decks were more complex. In late war they build also wooden decks on these boats but more simplyfied, resulting in less wood used and less labour spend. Only the bow and stern had sheet plating sections. This was the same with the type IX.

        Kind regards

          I'm really admiring the progress.

I'm really admiring the progress. Anxiously waiting for more.

Because you are doing such a detailed job, I wonder if you're interested in properly representing the flood hole patterns? Dougie Martindale, author of the u boat color report, has a lot of info on different flood patterns. These patterns differed from yard to yard. I had to fill some of my flood holes and make new ones. Some I had to resize and move completely. He also has some specific info on the different exhaust outlets. Let him know what boat you're doing and he may have some specifics on it.
Here's a couple of links on some posts that he just made at Ship Chat. There's a lot of us Revell 1/72 u boat modellers there.

Thanks for doing such a good job on your boat. Gives me some ideas about my own.

          Take Care,

          Jess

Sorry about those links. I don't know why they didn't work.

Anyway, click on the link, go to the next page, scroll down and look for the posts, "Revell hole patterns" and "hole patterns.
