Does anyone know of a plastic kit for the Seawolf? I work with a Navy Chief who is a little ways from retiring that I want to make a shadow box for and his favorite boat he served on is the 022. I know of the resin kits but thats a little too much money out of my pocket. I don't care if it's a bit inaccurate as long as I don't have to make any major mods. I am however willing to entertain all suggestions.
Seawolf plastic model?

Check on E Bay. There
Check on E Bay. There are several cheap Chinese made styrene kits.
I bought a U.S.S. Virginia about 8 months ago.
I think that it's a 688 class that they add a pump jet shroud, towed array fairings, and a sail with that little fillet @ the forward end.
Not very accurate, but cheap and easy.
Good luck

Thank you gentlemen for the
Thank you gentlemen for the replies, sorry I took so long to get back to you. It's that pesky work thing. Novagator, you provided the answer to a rumor I've been hearing for a while that someone was going to release a plastic kit of the seawolf. It seems that it would be Dragon, but when? I'll wait and see.White ensign models has it listed as coming soon but even they don't know when.
Mike, The virginia you have sounds interesting. It probably is a basterdized 688. Dragon did that with their version of the 688,if you look it over right out of the box it started out as a 637 class, then they added to the molds for the Dallas and again for the hampton. I've built a couple of these and with a little putty and some elbow grease they look really good.
Thanks again and hope to see you at the regatta.

Well the SSN 22 is
Well the SSN 22 is the USS Conneticut a seawolf Class boat. The Virginia and the 688 boats are too narrow to be even close to a Seawolf class boat as the Seawolf Class boat is very large and has a nickname "fat albert" Do not know of any models yet of the Seawolf out as of yet. Maybe you can get a plaque with the Conneticut logo on it etc. If you need information on this boat contact me at Drdv654@cs.com Be glad to help Dr Dave

Dr. Dave, thanks for the
Dr. Dave, thanks for the offer, I'm sure at some point I'll fire a question your way. I don't want to try squeezing a plaque into a shadow box as they are generally small. Ships coins work very well. I built a 688 for a chief that retired just recently and included coins from all three 688's he served on. Fortunately all three were assigned to the same base I work at. I have pictures that were taken by a friend of mine that I need to clean up(cheap camera). I will post them as soon as I can.

Seawolf Plastic model by Dragon
Seawolf Plastic model by Dragon still just a rumor till now (sigh - I'm waiting for the news for release).
I've bought (the so-called) Seawolf class plastic model kit, made in China - which after I compared it with my Hampton (Dragon) is exactly the same but for the size and shroud. I'm very disssapointed, so just to empahize it, don't but the kit.
Desperate to have a Seawolf class (1/350), I then tried HLJ.com. I found 1 resin kit, yes it is resin but I think the price is quite ok. maybe you can try it ? but possibly you need to order it first.

I make them to suit
I make them to suit the person it's for. In the case of the chief, I took the brass plates he had made that chronicled his career in the navy, a dragon model of a 688, a mohogany colored flag display box and ships coins from the boats he served on and put it all together. For the 688 model I threw out the plastic stand and made one from black walnut with two machined brass pins for the boat to sit on. This is alot more involved than it sounds but at the same time it's fairly easy. I have a couple of pictures that are fuzzy but give an idea of the finished product but I will need help posting them here(not a member yet, I'm joining at the regatta). I could bring another project I'm working on to the regatta if you would like. Keep in mind it's still rough, let me know. If you want more details I'll sit down at home and type something up, I'm kind of at work right now.Speaking of which,
Got to go back to work.
See you at the regatta.
