Highly technical question for the torpedo experts here

So you fell for the trap. But since your here I do need your advice.
I am building this modified "Silly Surfer" girl for an upcoming model show for the "humor" category.
I am having a lot of difficulties with the torpedo color. I like the brass cone but the green isn't
reading as "torpedo" to me. What color do you think the green should be? I'm currently thinking an off-black might work better.

Well.....U.S. Navy Mk45 & Mk48 torpedoes appear to be green. Though the '48s seems to have other after body colors...........

      Interesting.

Torpedoes are painted in various colors and combination of colors.
The US uses this to identify the type and yield of the torpedoes.

      Latin America

      USA Mark 48

      Museum display

      China

Russian with Supercavitator in front. (speed 200km plus)

The point is, you can use just about any colors you want.

        Gents,

Our torpedos are generally the green color shown above. If they have international orange panels, they are excercize weapons, colored so they can be retrieved and reused. On the chart, the MK 48 is in standard USN livery for a warshot torpedo. They yellow band denotes "full of bang stuff".

          What about WWII torpedoes?
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Ours were usually black with bronze warheads. Aircraft units were bronze head, silver or light gray body, very similar to the one in the fun sculpture. No color band used to denote live or not. Excercize heads used a welded eye at the tip. On warshots, the eye was an integral cast piece of the head.

You guys are the best. Thanks.

And today I learned there is still a Whitehead torpedo in existence, very clever.
