Trumpeter's 1/144 Gato 1944

I finally broke down and ordered a Trumpeter 1/144 1944 Gato. I was wondering who out there has built one and what pointers and opinions they'd share?

I'm not going to build it immediately but will purchase some aftermarket parts and photoetch from White Ensign, Nautilus and Iron Bottom Sound as funds allow. Then I'll be ready to build an extremely late-war version.
