Higher Quality YouTube videos available now

While looking at some videos on YouTube - I noticed a bar of text saying "Watch in higher quality" under the video screen...




If you select that link, the video reloads in much better quality! Also, it appears some videos do not have the Watch in higher quality message - if not - you can just add the following seven characters

&fmt=18

to the end of the video's URL, and it will play in high quality as well! NEAT!

I don't know if we can get that mod on our forum's "YouTube It" feature, but at least we can see videos in better quality, without having to wait for long loading times seen in some high quality video upload sites.

Tim, how do you add

Tim, how do you add those characters to the end of the url? I tried it by going to the address bar of the video thats playing and I click on it to add in the extra characters but when you do that all the other characters then dissapear.

Tim that's great but I think you'll find this is the best yet. No slow loading. No buffering. HD if you want. And so far none of those nasty comments that YouTube allows. If this is a family site I wouldn't want little Johnny seeing some of the pornographic comments allowed on YT. They need to stop that. I canceled my account with them after I saw them.

Have you guys ever noticed them? I had very nasty gay oriented comments on some of my sub videos there that I can't mention here. Just use you imagination. Horrible stuff.

Anyway try this one out and see what you think. Full screen looks great too.

It just got better. You can't download on Youtube and save the file. On this site you can. Down in the right hand corner I noticed download WMV version. Right click and save and play. Perfect image and no skipping. Full screen is out of this world.

As you can see this video was not taken to share with the world. we were just filming some of our recreation time.What surprised me was that the video being 2.5 mins long took 45 mins. to upload. Oh well ,the last site that I used said that this video at 2.5 mins. was too long to upload.

And guys don't forget that down in the right hand corner you can load and save the video. Can't do that on YouTube. Also when you do this it's worth the wait. It will be the actually video you loaded and not the framed dropped re compressed flash. Full screen is perfect and no jerking from dropping frames.

Steve, Nice job on the 212 and its of a nice size too. The 212 in the videos that I posted under" video hosting site test " belongs to Dave Santivanez from Ocala Florida. Its realy big. I would say about 60 inches overall and it has a homemade compressor based ballast system. He says hes going to do a builders thread on his next project , a 70 inch type 21. Look for his posts under the name of Aquadeep. Id love to take the credit for his work but Im just the videographer. Im going to post some more of this sub in the next couple of days on this same forum "Submarine Videos"

Seems that www.vimeo.com and it was great. Every week I meet with my group called the Hansen Dam Irregulars. For the most part I'm the only submariner there. Featured in this video is my scratch built 212 with BD's RCABS-R WTC he made me.
