Good news! The rear pods are holding up the rear with plenty to spare. I should be very close after all the detail parts are on.

I do need to rework the rear nozzle as it is too constricting. It creates a vortex in the tunnel after a few seconds. With it off, everything is fine. New one will be very short with stators around the perimeter. I realize I could put an impeller in there with proper ducting but I am trying to keep this one a simple conversion. BigDave, I am still testing the one you sent me. We will see with the new nozzle.

I remember seeing a tv show about how the fountains in Las Vegas get the streams of water to floww in such a tight stream.

They ended up using a large diameter pipe fill with soda straws. The straws took the water flowing in and made it all come out straight.
Not doing a very good job of describing this.
Like straight blades in the nozzle you could make something to fit inside filled wit soda straws to make the water come out very straight.

If the water did vortex in each straw, they would counter act the ones next to each other.
Maybe tomorrow I will try to find a video on this process.
Fill the nozzle and this should cure the vortex issues.

Interesting challenge, to get the water flowing correctly. I think you have a really cool looking design and look forward to the solutions you will come up with! Excellent work.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

It's just going to be a simple tube with some details on it. No room for anything else back there....

First test run today and I was able to keep a nice depth after some trimming. Lake visibility is terrible right now so I kept everything close to shore. Turning radius is pretty good so I am going ahead with paint....

Sneak peek of the paint progress. Most of the airbrushing is done. Letters and insignias next followed by chipping and rust.

Stencils and canopy done. Last thing is a bit of paint chipping...

That reall came together great. The paint job is top notch and it has the feel of a real experimental underwater fighter.

If you mount the impeller in a cylindrical object it will produce massive amounts of thrust.
I use short sections of lexan.
                              Just add some flow correctors.
You will need a lot more water flowing in to feed the pump though.
Open the holes up and add some simple ducting to cover them.
I should have included some lexan in the care package.
                              It looks very good. BD.

Thanks Dave....The standard prop is doing its job. I do have the shaft ground for the impeller so changing is easy. I might do some tests with the shroud actually attached to the endcap like the prop as we move forward.
