    Non Radio Frequency Communication???

    Hi,
I'm designing a small sub to be released in a sea water tank! We're therefore having issues with using Radio frequency for our communications, due to the lack of space for a large antenna, power issues and salt water affecting the range (which we need to be quite large).

We're therefore thinking of impressing a signal on an E field and transmitting it across the tank! Does anyone have any ideas or experience on this, as any help would be extremely appreciated!

    Thanx,

    This is a very interesting

This is a very interesting subject. I could make very good use of the solution for this for my telemetry unit.
One option is to use an acoustic modem. I know they are around. Short range should not be very hard to build but I haven't seen anything like it on the net.

      Unfortunately acoustic communication is out

Unfortunately acoustic communication is out of the question, as we have to stick to a specific set of guidlines, which rules out acoustics!

      Thanks for the idea tho!
