Sub Automation using Arduino video demo

    Hi all
I have spent the last few months coming to grips with ‘Arduino.’ This is a whole new world for me and it should transform how my model sub works! The system is yet to be wired in so there is a long way to go but here is a little vid showing how it all works. So any comments are welcome, and I will update you on how it goes in practice.

    John,
    Very nice!
This is a new age for radio controlled subs. What you and Tim Senecal are doing are game changers. Applying technologies to our hobby only makes it richer. I am being careful to not say better. There are many ways to run your sub. If it dives and surfaces and you can control it, that is good. Subs 14 years ago ran great, subs in 14 years will run great (they will not look exactly the same). I am saying all this because new technologies can be poo-poohed (like brushed motors vs. brushless motors), but for the right reason new technology can be an asset.
I really appreciate seeing what you are doing with Arduino and look forward to seeing how your sub runs. This inspires me to learn more.
    Cheers!
    Peace,
    Tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

This is fascinating stuff. I would be very interested in learning more about implementing a system like this for my 1/32 Type VIIc boat.
