Here is a drawing of the Rotory output assemblies I made for the Krick.
The drawing should give you an idea of what I did.

      Happy Holidays Big Dave.

I' ve been following this thread the last few days. Another great project from one of the masters. Can't wait to see the finished boat.

What are you using to seal the servo output shafts? They look like Subtech seals but they don't look like they're made of brass.
They are my own version of the Subtech type seal assemblies.
Happy holidays to you too Sir! BD.

With that thick lexan you're using you could probably have integrated the shaft seals directly into the lid.

            Big Dave,
Are you willing to share how you make your seals?
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Are you putting in a rudder skeg?

                I guess I did.
I added a larger rudder and I wanted to protect it.
                It screws on and off.

                  I will draw something up.
Although it will not help you as the seal assemblies are molded.
I just make them for my cylinders.
Too much work to make them to sell.

Here is a drawing of the seal assembly.
I turned the masters from aluminum on my lathe and made a molds.
The bodies will accept X seals, standard O ring seals, and cup seals.
                    Depending on the application.
I also have a dual back to back cup seal for RCABS systems.

What an absolutely enthralling re-build. I am impressed by the engineering and effort going in to bringing her back to life.

                        Cheers,

Was expecting the rudder skeg to be solid like that on the Type VII or Gato.

What's the purpose of the PTFE spacer?

What's the purpose of the PTFE spacer?
It is more of a protective and not a scale addition to the hull.
As the rudder sticks down further now and has more surface area I could easily see me wapping it on something.
Jim Butt tells me I went way overboard on the rudder size.
What can I say, I like them to turn.
The PTFE spacer is used as a spacer to keep the seal in place. (Pressed into it's cavity)
It also acts as a wiper to trap the shaft lubricant (STP) at the seal.

Actually it is ready to be ballasted.
I even repainted the gray bottom anti foul red.
                                Breaking tradition yet again.
Jeff will kick me out of the U-boot builders society.
That's if there actually was one. BD.
