    VIIC 1/72 Parts????????

IA friend has inherited a VIIC model that is missing conning tower parts, specifically:

    -snorkel

    -Circular LF retractable antenna

    -Periscope, and

-whatever the hell you call the little inverted triangles that the antenna wire attaches to, on the deck

Are these parts available as reproduction pieces
or can anyone copy what they have???
I really don't want to spend $200.00 on having a complete kit shipped to me , just to get these parts.

    Thank you , in advance

    Kim,

You could try contacting Revell directly for parts. They used to sell the individual parts trees for exactly the reason you have...replacing bad/broken parts. They may still provide that service.

You could probable scratchbuild these from stock styrene and brass pieces.

Hopefully you can get the parts you need.

If not, scratch building is not that difficult.
Takes a bit of time but if you work on one mast at atime, it will get done.

Here is a photo of a Gotland sail and masts.
It is all build from scratch, including the sail.
Reference. The sail is 2 5/8" inches tall and made from 1/16" styrene plastic sheet.
The periscope mast is 1/8" tubing.
The snorkel mast head is 5/8" in diameter.
            All were made from photos.

You can see more of the process here Gotland Project
The sail and mast are in the Project 4 section...about half way down the page.

The Gotland was put on hold for two reasons.
            1. I needed to finish a Skipjack so it could go to a Fun Run Event.
            2. The bow section presented unseen problems I don't have the tools to fix.
I have to come up with another way to make it.
Tail cone will probably have the same issues.

            The sail planes are functional.
            The mast can be removed.
The just push in to a fixture in the sail.
Two positions. Full up or removed.
