Holland VI (32nd Parallel Hull)

I recently acquired one of the few Holland hulls produced by 32nd Parallel known to exist. The hull was pretty much ready to run, though there were a number of items that needed attending to. Nothing that complicated, though I'm still missing the torpedo door hatch. In any case, the hull came in primer gray and was calling out for a prototypical paint job. Over the past several days I prep'd the hull and today I was able to do the color coats. Here are two photos showing the results.





There is some minor touchup that I need to do to fix two paint drips. Next up is getting the dive module ready for running.

Ha, ha, nothing says I know my stuff and have too many hobbies like a drill press, a reloader, and a mini-mill on the same bench! I know 'cause that's what mine looks like.

I've always like the look of Holland. Very much ahead of its time, although hampered by the propulsion systems of the day, they perform beautifully as models which have no such disadvantage.

Are you implementing any form of ballast shifting?

Did 32nd parallel ever do any more of these hulls? This is the only one I've seen pictures outside of their now defunct website.

As far as I know, 32nd Parallel only made 2 or 3(?) hulls...and the brass tail feathers on this model may be the only one made by Simon.

The model came with an OTW dive module which should be quite workable. I'm not planning on running the boat in prototypical fashion as John Holland did, i.e. no 'porpoising', but will do the typical r/c sub full static dive trim.

I'm hoping that the previous owner will send it to me. He has stated that he has it...just need to get it into the mail.
