A little OCD.

O.k. So forgive the obvious question here. But before I start putting this together I want to make sure I got it right.
This is what I have for my dive module.

Water pump with forward and reverse.
ESC for pump.
Rubber bladder
Solenoid to stop backflow and hold water in. (Is the solenoid necessary if I have a rolling pump? Is it better to play safe and have one just in case?)
And last do I need a ESC for the solenoid? I don't believe I do. Its just a simple on/off right? Electricity activates the valve. Lack of electricity opens the valve.
Oh. One more thing. I don't believe I need to place a second battery in with the ESC for the pump? I have BEC already hooked up.

I believe that you will need some sort of electronic switch (e.g. like a SubTech SES) to be able to control the pump and the solenoid. Alternatively, you could build the equivalent using a servo and some micro switches.

So when it gets to a certain pre-set state it triggers the micro switch and engages the solenoid? I have an extra channel on my radio. I was just going to set the solenoid to that. And manually trigger it. Bad idea?

I'm not sure what you mean by "gets to a certain pre-set state", but let's see if this helps....

Take a servo and mount one of the included servo arms on it. Then position a switch such that when the servo is commanded to move the arm it pushes against the switch to actuate it. You (also) can place a switch on each side of the servo arm so that you have two functions (plus the neutral 'off').

Each switch would then be used to turn on the ballast pump and/or the solenoid. Of course, the polarity of the wiring to the second switch would be reversed to the pump to get get both fill and empty.
