    8-ball project (resistance soldering unit)

A few of us 8-balls are going to attempt to build a resistance soldering unit.
These are great for working with brass parts as they only heat the solder joint and not the entire work.
The units you can buy are very expensive so we have been collecting info on how to build your own for much less money.
I will post progress as we proceed. BD.

Those who know me will understand why I *have* to say this:

    Resistance is futile!

That's great, Dave. I was just looking at one on the cover of the latest Micro-Mark catalog thinking, I bet I could make one of those. I can learn from your mistakes. Thanks 8-Ball Guinea pigs.

            Not a problem Pete.
I hope we can come up with a good cheap system.
Don O and I were looking at the same Micro Mark cover.
The good units are in the $600-$700 range.
The cover one is a cheapee at less than $200.

We have found out one of the 8-balls actually has a good commercial unit and offered to let us barrow it to see if we like the system.
This will help us in our design.
            Thanks D3!

And thank you Ronald for the link.
