    Skipjack build.

I am working on one of the new 1/72 Skipjack kits.
Good excuse to install one of my new Uni2.5 cylinders inside for some extra testing.
I will try and post some more info and photos later.
I am hoping to test the sub this Sunday at our YMCA run.
Very nice model for the money. Later! BD.

    Re: Skipjack build.

Here are a few photos of my installation so far.
The sub is upside down just to get your bearings.
I have decided to have the hull in three main sections.
Top is one section and bottom is two sections.
I did not want to cut the hull in any way.
This makes it easier to paint too and you have full access to the inside.
All the parts mount to the top half.
Its a different way to do it but I like it. Hopefully it works. More later. BD.

    I know! Messy work bench!

      BD,

Very nice work. I especially like the way the batteries are mounted.

I think you also need a set of PE sub vents to really dress her up!

        Stick them in the keel.
Best place for them for sure.
        I am using two 3400MA 123 cells. 6.6V
I mounted a waterproof toggle S/W in the tube cap so I can turn on the RC through a hatch in the bottom.
The Skipjack had a convent hatch already scribed on the hull. BD.

Messy workbench h*ll, I'm looking at the burn marks on the plug strip. What you been shorting out in that sparky?

            It was quite spectacular
I dropped a piece of solder and it fell right across the plug terminals.
I mean what are the odds of that happening.
I could not do it if I tried.
The solder basically vaporized with a big poof!

Probably not the best orientation for the edge of a workbench, BD. If it were me, I would take a sheet of clear plastic and form a little roof over the top of the plugs as a shield. Everything would still be visible and the switch accessible.

When will the uni2.5 be ready for sale as a cylinder for the 1/72 SkipJack?

                  Hi,
                  I am hoping soon.
I am gearing up now to make the cylinders as they will be the basis for almost all my systems.
I am working on updating my web site too. Dave.

                    Dave:

Do you have any new information about the release date for the Uni2.5 for the 1/72 Skip Jack?

I have periodically checked your website for any new information about the Uni2.5 RTR kit.

                      Hi Andrew
I am still working on it.
                      Health issues keep popping up.
Doing much better and working on the cylinder again.
                      Thanks for your inquiry. BD.
